The Gearshift Garage Live Stream Racing system is a plug-and-play live streaming and GPS race tracking platform built specifically for motorsports. Mount the device in your vehicle, connect to internet, tap Start Stream, and your live feed plus real-time map position are broadcast to fans at livestreamracing.com and trackracecars.com.
Does the system include GPS tracking?
Does the system include GPS tracking?
Yes. Your vehicle position is plotted live on the race course using the event’s GPX route, allowing fans to follow racers in real time alongside the video feed. For static uses it appears as a pin on the map.

Is the stream public or private?
Is the stream public or private?
By default, streams are public. Premium users can enable Private Mode, which hides the stream and GPS position from public viewing.

How hard is setup?
Setup is designed to take only a few minutes:
- Power on the device
- Connect to Wi-Fi
- Open the G.S.G. LSR app
- Log in
- Select your race details
- Tap Start Stream
That’s it.

No. The system was specifically built for racers and teams who want a simple “set it and forget it” solution.
What comes in the kit?

Depending on your package, your bundle may include:
- Preconfigured live stream device
- USB-C charging cables
- Roll cage mount
- Adjustable mount arm
- Cage clamp
Does the device need to be mounted horizontally?

Yes. The device must be mounted horizontally (landscape mode) for proper video orientation and viewing.
Can I flip the image if the camera is upside down?

Yes. The app includes a Flip button that rotates the image before going live.
How long does it take for my stream to appear online?

Typically about 30 seconds after going live.
What internet connection do I need?
What internet connection do I need?
You need an internet connection in your vehicle. Recommended options:
- Roof-mounted Starlink
- Mobile hotspot
A stable connection is the most important part of successful streaming.
What happens if I lose signal during a race?

Nothing — just keep driving. The system automatically reconnects and resumes streaming once signal returns.

Most streaming issues are caused by weak Wi-Fi signal.
Try:
- Verifying you are connected to the correct SSID and then check internet connection strength
- Tapping Start Stream again
- Waiting 10 seconds

Yes. You can connect your intercom system to the device using:
- Bluetooth
- 3.5mm audio cable
Do I need to use in-cab audio?

No. Audio setup is optional. The device can simply use onboard microphone audio if preferred.

Yes. For long races, keep the device connected to power at all times using:
- USB-C vehicle power
- High-output USB charger
- External battery pack
Can the device run on internal battery alone?

For shorter sessions, yes. For race-day reliability, external power is strongly recommended.

- Series name
- Race name
- Event dates
- GPX file (if available)
- Track location
Please contact support 7 days before race day so events can be added in time.

Private Mode hides your:
- Live stream
- GPS position
- Race map location
Only users logged in with your credentials can view the feed.
What is Production Broadcast Routing?
What is Production Broadcast Routing?
Production Broadcast Routing allows racers to feed their camera directly into a race organization’s live production broadcast using Restream.io and RTMP routing.
Do I need Restream.io for normal streaming?
Do I need Restream.io for normal streaming?
No.Restream.io is only required for premium production broadcast routing. Standard streaming works without it.
